About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and CandidateRank (“we”, “us”, “our”) governing your access to and use of the CandidateRank platform and all related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By creating an account, logging in, or submitting any data through the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to two categories of users:

• Institutional users: placement cell administrators, sub-admins, members, and recruiters acting on behalf of a college or hiring organisation.
• Candidates: students whose profiles are evaluated through the platform, whether added by an institution or via the self-evaluation portal.

Eligibility

To use CandidateRank you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have the legal authority to enter into a binding agreement, either personally or on behalf of the institution you represent.
• Not have been previously suspended or banned from the Service.

If you are registering on behalf of a college, university, or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms. References to “you” in these Terms include that organisation.

Institutional user responsibilities

As an institutional user you take on important obligations regarding the candidate data you process through the Service.

Where candidates have not self-registered, you are responsible for informing them that their data will be processed using CandidateRank, and for what purpose, before or at the time of submission. Directing candidates to our Privacy Policy satisfies part of this obligation.

3.3 Accuracy

You are responsible for ensuring that candidate data you submit (name, email, CGPA, GitHub/LeetCode usernames, resume) is accurate and up to date.

3.4 Non-discrimination

You must not use CandidateRank to make hiring decisions on the basis of protected characteristics including but not limited to gender, religion, caste, disability, age, or national origin. The platform’s scores reflect technical profile signals only; applying discriminatory filters on top of those scores is a violation of these Terms and applicable law.

3.5 Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at privacy@candidaterank.in if you suspect unauthorised access.

Candidate rights and acknowledgements

If you are a candidate whose data is processed through CandidateRank, whether added by an institution or via self-evaluation, you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your data.

By submitting your own data through the self-evaluation portal, you consent to:

• CandidateRank fetching your publicly available GitHub and LeetCode profile data.
• Your resume being analysed by an AI model to extract structured information about your skills and experience.
• A composite score being computed and shown to you.

You may withdraw consent at any time by requesting deletion of your profile at privacy@candidaterank.in.

AI outputs: advisory use only

CandidateRank makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated output. Scores are derived from publicly available data and resume content; they do not capture the full picture of a candidate’s ability or potential.

We do not use candidate data to train AI models. Resume text is processed transiently by third-party LLM providers solely to extract structured information; it is not retained by those providers for training purposes under our agreements with them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload false, misleading, or fabricated candidate data.
• Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law, including data protection law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform in bulk.
• Share login credentials with individuals outside your institution.
• Use the AI Advisor or any other AI feature to generate outputs you present as factual without independent verification.
• Circumvent or disable any security or access-control feature of the Service.
• Submit spam, malware, or any harmful content through any upload or form feature.

Intellectual property

CandidateRank and its original content, features, and design are owned by CandidateRank and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission.

You retain ownership of any data you upload (candidate resumes, institutional data). By uploading data you grant us a limited licence to process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Third-party APIs (GitHub, LeetCode) may be unavailable or return incomplete data; scores computed without complete data will reflect only the signals available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CandidateRank and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service.
• Any hiring decision made based on AI outputs from the Service.
• Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data.
• Errors or omissions in third-party API data (GitHub, LeetCode).

Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount paid by you to CandidateRank in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₹5,000, whichever is greater.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law.

You may delete your account at any time. Upon account deletion, your profile data and all associated candidate records will be permanently erased within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Sections 05, 08, 09, 11, and 12 survive termination.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be addressed by contacting us at privacy@candidaterank.in. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction in India.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to institutional account holders and by a notice within the platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Minor changes (typo corrections, clarifications that do not reduce your rights) may be made without advance notice.
